The second annual Mokuyokai Matcha Matsuri
(Green Tea Festival) will be held on Saturday
October 14th from 12:00 to 5:00 pm at UBC's
Nitobe Memorial Garden and Asian Centre.
Enjoy the centuries-old tradition of the
Japanese "Way of Tea" as well
as the modern incarnation of matcha. There
will be lots of tea related events, information
and products, as well as traditional Japanese
musical performances. Experience a tea
ceremony with exquisite wagashi (Japanese
sweets) in Nitobe Garden's serene teahouse
or in the Asian Centre's tea gallery. Let
the sound of the koto (Japanese harp) and
shakuhachi (bamboo flute) float over you
in the Asian Centre as you peruse the beautiful
Japanese products of local artisans
and retailers, and enjoy a cup of matcha
latte, matcha chocolate, or a Japanese
bento (boxed lunch).
